Liability Insurance for Mexico

Our northern cruising is almost over with - we have returned from Alaska. As we prepare for our journey south, we have read that the Mexican marinas etc require liability insurance from a Mexican provider - they do not accept liability from a foreign provider.
We're insured to the hilt via Pantaenius so it will be just an extra expense for us - but if they insist - then they insist.
Where can we buy cheap liability from a Mexican provider.

We are a Danish flagged boat.

thanks

carsten

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Re: Liability Insurance for Mexico

Check with Pantaneaus. The (now defunct) Pantaneaus USA had an arrangement with a Mexican carrier. Maybe you can find the same arrangement.

It is not just marinas, it is a government requirement that you carry liability insurance with a local underwriter. Don't sweat it too much, the Mexican insurance is not all that expensive.

You'll find lots of alternative with a simple google search.

We have used MexPro for years. Based in Arizona and very fair prices. Get a policy online in about 5 minutes. We use them for our car liability insurances as well.

As the last response indicates, getting Mexico liability insurance is simple. It is also not at all pricey.

We arranged ours online while in San Diego.

Likely Latitude38 magazine/website has info you need. The Lat38 Mexico First Timers Guide provides info.

Been in Mexico a year, never been asked for a Mexico policy, not even once. But we carry it anyway as it’s the law and super cheap. But literally no one has even asked once.

Novamar. Offices in San Diego and Puerto Vallarta. Very easy to work with. They can set you up over the phone.
