LEDs installed!!!

We bit the bullet today and installed all new LED lighting on the boat.

I got tired of feeling like I was living in the office from "Joe Vs The Volcano".

Anyone want to buy some used 12 volt halogens?

Re: LEDs installed!!!

Those halogens are good for frying eggs. How do you like your LED upgrade?

Re: LEDs installed!!!

So nice. We bought three $50 West Marine dome lights to replace our halogen dome lights. But the real kicker is that I swapped out our dim reading light bulbs for some Dr. LED bulbs that totally kick butt!!! They are the double contact bayonet bulb replacements and man do they look nice. They are brighter than our incandescents and the exact same hew. I've never seen LEDs look this warm. Crazy. All in all I think I only spent about $150 for 3 dome lights and 4 reading light replacement bulbs thanks to the sweet port supply discount I have at West Marine. I am so psyched, it is kind of funny how such a small thing can make such a difference when living aboard.

Re: LEDs installed!!!

The cabin lights on my boat didn't look like LEDs when I last checked. I definately want to switch to LEDs just to save on current drain from the battery. Nice to see that it's working out for you.

Re: LEDs installed!!!

Now all you need to deal with is very low power consumption and a 20,000 hour life span.

Re: LEDs installed!!!

I've been interested in LEDs for a while. Now that I have a boat I can get them. Attached is what I just pulled off the boat today. found one of them was set on a dimmer switch that the red filter in the picture came from.
