Having a firearm on board

This is something I should know, and I hate admitting I don't; but I'm not exactly sure of any laws or regulations in reference to firearms on board, anyone have any information they could pass on. Thanks.

" laws ...in reference to firearms on board,"
There generally are none. "On board" is just another place, the same as any other place, as far as almost all firearms regulations are concerned. Same as your car, your office, or your school bus, covered by the same regulations.

Until you get into the realm of specifics between nations and navies, i.e. "I can neither confirm nor deny the presence of nuclear weapons aboard this ship."

No problem in domestic waters if it is registered. If you get boarded by the Coasties you will want to declare it when they come aboard. It's potentially very problematic in foreign waters depending on the country.

Most cruisers seem to be against the idea because of the potential legal problems and hassles of bringing a firearm into a foreign country. The chances are very slim in the cruising world that you will ever need one. Even with that said, some people choose to cruise with a firearm.

Nope, not again. I am closing this thread. We have gigabytes of info on Guns/boats and you name it. We don't need any more.
