So I take a train into New York City this morning for a checkup at my Doctors. When I get home I hear this:

Re: Ebola Fears in the Canary Islands

Thanks for sharing. We're in Spain for another week before we return to good old NYC. I read a book about Ebola about 15 years ago, can't believe it took this long for a significant outbreak. For those interested in this kind of thing might enjoy reading about Marburg virus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Re: Ebola Fears in the Canary Islands

Don't freak out just yet.

The Saudi was an isolated case, so far.

The Nigerian stuff is all one incident related to the health staff that assisted the American who died off the plane. They didn't realize he was from Sierra Leone.

We may well be in the panic zone shortly, but so far these are near misses.

I admit that it doesn't look good. The infection rate and deaths is up sharply. That means the health systems are getting severely overloaded. At some point panic will set in and the folks will run, spreading the disease. It may have already happened. But we have no credible evidence of such, as of yet.

Here's hoping.

Re: Ebola Fears in the Canary Islands

I can't speak to the veracity of this report, the site looks a bit sketchy. Still......

A man who landed at Guarulhos airport in São Paulo, in the morning, was taken to hospital Emilio Ribas, capital of the Central Region and is hospitalized in an isolated area. The African, whose name was not revealed, undergoes tests that may reveal contamination Ebola.

There's nothing to worry about. Some guy from the CDC is "very confident" there won't be an epidemic. Wot? Me worry?

After doing some more digging, this was an old report, I'd disregard it. The phillipieans are healthy. My apologies for pasting news too hastily.

I can see the Philippines as being a high risk candidate for transmission due to the many overseas workers who will want to get out of Africa.

The experimental treatment the American doctor received....is it considered a vaccine?

Is there any way to limit spread of the virus in the US just to Congress?

obama says it is too early to send the vaccine,as stocks are low and it is yet to be tested on humans.
