Re: Couple and dogs rescued after months at sea

I watched a few seconds of the first you-tube--metered connection, here. What i heard from the mouth of the blonde sounded to me like a pre-written publicity speech, designed to get more news bites. It was not at all like what i have heard from people who have really been through harrowing experiences.

(I hope this isn't a re-post)The audio interview in this video is entertaining. Start around the 15 minute mark.

Re: Couple and dogs rescued after months at sea

So, how does anyone know they were actually at sea for 5 months? Anyone know the distance between their "rescue" point and HI?

Chartering a boat in the Caribbean, and sailing across the ocean out of sight of land are two different things. It's not all 15 knots and sunny skies...[/QUOTE]
So...15 kts at about the lat of HI?

Yes, 15 knots wind speed was my intended reference.

My biggest remaining question is: Is there anywhere along their supposed route where they might encounter a foul 10 knot current?

I haven't been anywhere near that part of the world, so I honestly don't know.

At least according to this clip.

I do have some serious questions, is this a case of they didn't know how to navigate, or is it that her career is melting faster than a pudding pop at noon in July in Arizona!??

The whole thing is fishy to me, and no she didn't build the boat, she refit the boat.

Makes me wonder if this was all planned or if they just didn't know what they were doing.

I think it will take some time, but if she is telling a story eventually it will fall apart.

Either way, it is a good story because it tells you "Hey, see these people, don't be like them, have a backup plan and understand how to fix stuff if you are going to sea so you don't wind up bobbing around for 5 months like a pile of poo on a plank floating around the eastern Pacific!
That poor ignorant reporter. " built the boat herself", And multiple other obvious Total BS statements.
GMAFB.

ARRRGGGG!!!!!

Couple and dogs rescued after months at sea

I hope short of river rapids or similar, that there are no ten knot currents, as I do not possess a 10+Kt Boat

The only label I have attached to this boating story is "stupid".
I wish I could live in the past also.

When it is all known please PM so I can be ashamed.

Quotes a force 11 storm near Hawaii on 3-5 May.

But the best:

Ann,
I have read posts from you for many, many years and know that you can see through this easily.
I know you are now a moderator and so must remain objective. And you have been. Good for you.
But I call serious BS.
It irks me to no end these days how "news" is not news. No research, no accountability.
Glad I won't be around much longer.

so basically due south of Hawaii the scuttlebutt keeps getting better
Unless they are talking 160E. Then they are about 100 miles north of Guadalcanal which is at 9S ( approx)
