Boats + Alcohol - Training = ????

However 700 deaths in one year with a large majority related to alcohol doesn't scream for federal licensing of boaters.

It screams for breathalyzers, fines and arrests on the lakes and rivers where the idiots hang out.

PS - I wonder how much Mr. Greenberg gets from West Marine for the plug...

In NZ we look at how much booze a boat can fit on it before we buy it. It isn't till after we have settled and have to fill the diesel tank that we realise what the fuel tank holds. Got to get the priorities right.

Is our drowing rate any higher I wonder?

Statistically we have fewer drownings than the US.

Yeah but that's only because the drunk ones tend to tiki tour off over the horizon in a 16ft tinnie, never to be found again to raise the Statistics of Drowned while Drunk. :-)

I discovered on a recent South Island trip that this is probably because you are lucky enough to have that fabulous beer "Speights" (pride of the south.

We found a place to buy it in Brisbane the other day and immediately stocked up.
