Boarding Ladder

It seems to me that a proper boarding ladder is one of the most important pieces of safety equipment on a boat second only to a proper PFD. I have tried several manufactured units but have found them painfully inadequate. They all require Herculean upper body strength to climb. Most people don’t have that kind of strength.
I recently built this one and am very happy with the results. It is permanently mounted, easily deployed from the water, and requires very little upper body strength to climb.

Re: Boarding Ladder

This boarding ladder has some similarities to the one I built for my wife to use. She was unable to climb most boarding ladders due to her post-polio syndrome and reduced leg strength. The key factor seems to be having the bottom rungs well underwater. It's not shown in your photo, but I assume there's something to grasp well above the top platform,- I guess it's those rails that support the propane tanks. 'good work!
