WRT the useless insurance at high cost under ACA, just pay the fine. (Oops. SCOTUS declared it a tax, so ACA wouldn't be forcing folks to buy something from anyone.)

We do (well, for the admiral; I have Medicare) and self-insure when we're offshore, which (gnash, gnash) is becoming more and more infrequently as her lineage expands...

This search will provide several carriers. Just make sure you have your list of criteria so that you can compare coverage.
