Another Carbon Monoxide story

Carbon monoxide poisoning killed young sailor Nicholas Banfield, but a $50 detector could have saved his life - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

I missed this one when it happened.

From the same link; IMO, a very generous act by Sean Langman.

Nicholas Banfield's former boss Sean Langman is taking action on the issue.

"Rather than wait for legislation, we made the decision within our organisation that we would fit CO alarms on every single vessel that comes through the yard," he said.

"We made it a mandatory fit, at no cost to the client."
The project has cost his marine company Noakes about $50,000.

Yes. A very generous act. Sad that legislation is probably needed but in this case I feel it would be wise. I for one have known about the risks of carbon monoxide for years because of the danger of leaky exhaust systems but it was only very recently that I learned a faulty gas stove could produce CO.

Re: Another Carbon Monoxide story

There are a number of instances where boaters in cold weather have left the propane burners runnning to warm the cabin and resulted in death, Minnesota has made it a requirement for detectors for example https://www.dnr.state.mn.us/safety/b...phias-law.html
