Went on
deck yesterday morning to drink my first cup of coffee and saw this in the slip directly behind our
boat. The Nonsuch 32 that was sitting on the bottom had been donated to Challenged America which is a local charity that takes folks with disabilities sailing.
The Nonsuch had been sitting at the
dock for about five months as Challenged America tried to sell her.
Vessel Assist gave them a "deal & discount" only $4,000 to refloat a
boat that was
for sale for $6,000!
The cause of the sinking was
1 - the kitchen sink drain threads corroded away
2 - the hose connected to the rotten drain fell to the floor
3 - the floor was below the waterline
4 - the
thru hull for the kitchen sink drain was "stuck" open when they received the boat as a donation - six months ago
5 - they never bothered to replace the stuck open thru-hull
the boat is now in the yard so they can replace the bad thru-hulls
