Wilmington to Oriental, via Ocracoke Inlet

My mast is 71ft so I have to head out of the Cape Fear River, round Frying Pan Shoals and then turn North. I'll likely stop at Wrightsville beach for a while and lay up in my little honey hole I marked on ActiveCapt for others to see. It's the pond just north of Lee's cut. I'll make the jump from Wrightsville around Cape Lookout and to Ocracoke Inlet and then duck in and stay at Silver Lake for a night or two. I then need to cross the Pamlico to Oriental and am concerned about the channels.

Please share local advice on entering Ocracoke Inlet and crossing the sound (9 foot shoal channel or Bigfoot slough)?

From what I've found so far the cans in the inlet DO mark the channel. Please confirm??? I'm going to visit the CoastGuard station at Wrightsville and discuss with them.

Are there any overhead power lines??? None show on Active Captain or other maps I've seen.

Advice on wind and weather also greatly appreciated.

Also, FYI: I'm most likely putting her in charter in Oriental, NC. PM if interested.

Many, MANY thanks,
Scott
