Make sure you understand brightness. If you are going to use the iPad topside, like I do, you want to understand the ‘brightness nits’ of an iPad.
The older the lower, and in today’s M1 chip version the larger the brighter. Take into consideration sunglasses, polarized lenses, and sunny skies — you may or may not be able to read your device… WHEN you need to read your device. Start with your iPhone
to give you an idea!
Also, WIFI+GPS models to give you the nav capability you want (I use both Navionics
for automatic routing and SEANAV for AIS
transmit/receive); 256GB is half what I use today but I don’t want to bump against the 128GB barrier.
