US$ Reference Raymarine Equipment

Dear Forum members,

My C80 Raymarine chartplotter screen (gps+radar) died on me today...either a black screen or a white screen, but that was it...
In contact with the Raymarine dealer here in Angra dos Reis (Brazil), i was told that the C80 is an outdated model, and they dont sell them anymore.
If they could interest me in purchasing a newer E80 model.
Now, the prices they quoted me i found unheard of: US$ 8.600 (for the E80) and (allthough they are not selling, the value of the C80 is Us$ 4000.) What are prices (rough references pls) for this equipement elsewhere, because honestly, i feel that this doesnt seem right.
Thanks for the info.
Best rgds,

Have you tried a hard reset? You will loose all your waypoints but it may bring the unit back to life. Look in the manual for instructions as it is a combination of key presses.

Those prices are crazy! Hard reset is worth a shot, but if that doesn't work take a look at eBay. There's good prices there for "classic" C units sometimes.

That's incredibly lame that once Raymarine stops selling a product, they also stop supporting and repairing it.

Re: US$ Reference Raymarine Equipment

Thank you for reply. Just for good orders sake: I didnt say that Raymarine is not going to (try) to repair my C80, but what they did say was that this model was outdated and that they are not selling it anymore.
Hard reset wont be possible as the part was already send to their lab(?) in Sao Paulo. I am trying to lend an (old) C80 that was in their show room..

Keep you all posted.
Thanks
Pieter
(ps need to go to panama as it seems)

Check E-bay is a good idea.
