Re: transit of venus

Thanks Charlie,

Stuck in office all day and couldn't get out and buy my solar eclipse glasses to view it.

Re: transit of venus

The clouds cleared and the sun came out (North Island, New Zealand). I watched Venus using my sextant...fantastic! We have followed Captain Cook's route over the past couple of years so I could not miss seeing the transit.

Re: transit of venus

Used my sextant's sun filters to get a good look. Very tiny speck in the top, right quadrant (when I saw it), but very distinctive.

Re: transit of venus

I used binoculars to project the image onto a white card. This has been a really interesting few weeks -- first the annular solar eclipse (only partial here), and now the transit.

Got this shot on my iPhone and a friends telescope, if you look carefully you can see solar flares around the edge.
