I thot that was very civilized of her, but as I recall they hadn't actually got to the front door before they were swarmed by security blokes cos some trigger-happy functionary had hit an alarm button.

Are there any here that are sincerely inconvenienced by this temporary security measure? Or has this just become another avenue for political protest?
Or has this just become another convenient opportunity to make Christmas a burden?

This is not meant politically, but it will sounds as if it is. One of the more laughable stores in the Los Angeles area for the past few years is the New Jersey scandal called "Bridgegate." It apparently involved a one day traffic jam allegedly involving some political conniving. On the other hand, whenever President Obama visited southern California, our already burdened "405 freeway" (also called the San Diego Freeway) in the general area of where he was staying or speaking -typically Beverly Hills or Century City- would become a complete traffic disaster, usually for several days. My point to the OP is, it goes with the office, not the person. With luck, the new president will not visit our area so much, and some of the burden will fall upon Florida. Too bad it will affect boaters. Get used to it though.
