Re: They Are Closing the Waters to Everyone!
Wake up people. Half of Waikiki was shut down for Obama visits. The Novotel in Canberra cancelled all reservations when Obama was supposed to visit. Now trump is somewhere and they close a waterway
That's politics. It's not left or right it's abuse of public concourse for politicians.

Really???? Only "Zone 1" is closed, and with the only useful anchorages being impacted fisherman's island and southern blvd (neither of which is great). Rest of zones are just "keep moving" Big deal for 10 days or so? boat show">Miami Boat Show is a bigger PITA as well as Govt Cut Main Channel.
Get a hobby guys...

This. The anchorages down there suck, especially for moderate to deep draft. The main Lake Worth anchorages are unaffected, and the ICW channel and near offshore zone are both permitted as long as you keep moving. The seasonal manatee restrictions have greater impact than these security zones. Save the righteous indignation for something that matters - this isn't even a molehill.

Re: They Are Closing the Waters to Everyone!
We passed through there on Thanksgiving day. The ICW wasn't shut down, you had to stay on the west side and were escorted through by either a Sheriffs or CG boat. No delay or inconvenience.

Re: They Are Closing the Waters to Everyone!
What attitude? The fact I didn't feel inconvenienced? I'm by no means a fan of Donald Trump, but I at least can understand the need for added security in these days and times. Oh forgot to ad, not only were the Sheriff deputies and CG personnel respectful they were also quite friendly. I felt worse for them having to spend their Thanksgiving on the water away from family than our slight supposed inconvenience.

Re: They Are Closing the Waters to Everyone!
This is no more onerous than Key West Harbor was just three weeks after 911 except I was advised not to get close to the Cruise ships. We didn't think there would be a fine, we expected we would be shot.

They Are Closing the Waters to Everyone!
I am posting this only to show that these type of closures are not new, and even the United States Marine Corp isn't allowed to fly, this Is not meant to be a Political, I am certain that no matter who was President the results would have been the same, but if you shut down the Marine Corp, do you expect that they won't pleasure boats?

I can't get all excited about this as I am still fuming about the area restrictions here by the Cape when they fire off rockets.. It should be my right to get hit by a falling booster rocket if I want to... SpaceX FTW!

Re: They Are Closing the Waters to Everyone!
Nothing to get upset about. Just continue on the west side channel (ZONE 2) which you would anyway.
Zone (2): This zone is always in effect. All vessels transiting the second zone shall maintain a steady speed and shall not slow or stop from waters of the Lake Worth Lagoon including the Intracoastal Waterway from the southern tip of the Everglades Island in the north to approximately 1000 yards from the south of the bridge on the south and from the western shore line to the western edge of the Fisherman Island in the east. Vessels needing to wait for the Southern Boulevard Bridge to open in zone 2 are permitted to wait in this zone only for the draw bridge to raise for safe passage.

Re: They Are Closing the Waters to Everyone!
Thank you Sailing Fan. I sat on the tarmac in San Diego for 3 hours because President Obama was flying in. Was on my way to Cabo so not exactly happy about that. Happens anytime a Presidential person goes anywhere. Not convenient. But, a sign of the times. This is exactly why we need immigration reform and why we need to slow the flow until we can know who comes in. I am for nobody coming in unless you have a means to support yourself.

I know of a EX pres that shut down an airfield runway a while to influence an attorney general about his wife's campaign problems, and no horrific outcry. But let it be Trump wanting to go spend some time on the water in a coastal area, and all the world explodes. No this has far less to do with blocked travel and far more to do with political hatred... Come on, folks, use your heads instead of your emotions, and take a real look at it from the security perspective of the new president, even if you seem to have a problem that he won. I assure you, Clinton would have been at least as problematic were she to come into the area, and for good or even better cause, given how so many actually do feel about her, both here AND abroad, regardless of what the media puts out there, because she is truly hated by some folks who simply don't like Trump because he is outside the mainstream political establishment, unlike her.
Surely one can find another way around for a couple weeks...

Every example you mentioned was a small space of where a pres may be. This is from Fort Worth to Miami!!! Absolutely ridiculous! Ok he wants to go to his mansion, fine. Block that off, not 1/2 of florida coast line!! You are the one that needs to see a little more clearly. Take about using your head. Does this make sense? A couple of weeks! Again, just thinks of himself. This is an important time of year for most other folks.

Contacting USCG on C16 does not seem unreasonable.
