Some years ago I drew attention to the
South Pacific Rathole.

Then click on 'earth' in bottom left, go to the control line and scroll forwards in 8 hour increments to the present.
You can see the low starting to form close south of
Tahiti and then dropping down through the rathole.
About 4 days later- ie the present - you can see the low offering up 20
knot easterlies in the mid 40's.
I expect it will now scuttle off to the south east.
