Am planning to pass through Southbound next month - does anyone have any knowledge or advice?

LOTS of ferry traffic going across the straits, and it can get a bit rough at times. the marinas on the Sicilian side are unprotected and expensive, while Reggio Calabria is a cesspool. Scylla is a nicer place to stop overnight.

We are going northbound early July.

I think it will be hideous and the donk will be used far too much.

woe is me. But it will be interesting to 'be there'.

I will be 'en route' to Southern Italy from UK on a delivery starting in a few days time - so will be 'nearly there' after about 3+ weeks at sea.
