Re: Stolen boat sy Isis II from Union Isl yesterday

They found the boat near Grenada, as far as i know first by plane and then took a speedboat to get there. Don't know about damage or missing stuff yet. According to a facebook post it was stolen by a single white guy.

Really happy for the owner...and all of us. If people got away with stealing ....yachts we all are in trouble.

So glad to hear. Next to losing crew it's our worst nightmare. Looking out for our friends on Isis 2 as we carry on southward!!!

Getting the boat back is excellent. Now, I hope they can get their life back together, what a nasty experience.

"Was stolen by a single white guy"

Perhaps the guy who was alongside with engine trouble when Gaute came back from town and gave him a tow to Happy Island? Then just waited until Gaute went to town at 13:30 LST before hijacking Isis II. Was nobody else around at that exact time.

The AIS on Isis II is still not working...

Re: Stolen boat sy Isis II from Union Isl yesterday

Gaute just confirmed the boat has been retrieved near Grenada.
Has damage in bow and rudder and was leaking. Will try lifting boat out tomorrow, (wherever he is) or continue to Grenada to slip there.
Just mentioned there were signs that somebody had been on-board,but did not say whether anything was missing. The AIS is not working presently as far as I can see. Did NOT mention single white man.

Anyway, I am very happy he got his boat back.

I have device called SPOT. Google it. Leave it on the boat and it will track via satelite to your hone or any laptop.

Still not clear to me if this was a theft or the vessel broke from mooring?!

Re: Stolen boat sy Isis II from Union Isl yesterday

She was apparently at anchor, not attached to mooring buoy.
The boat owner is fairly tight lipped about the actual details of the episode so we do´nt know if something made her anchor drag and drift Southwards.
I am not familiar with the sea-current situation and wind direction at the time as to whether it was possible to cover the distance in the time available?

50´ Madame Geneva anchored around 20 m from Isis II about one hour after the owner went ashore for a Kite session at 13:30 hrs but can not recall having seen her? Judging by her anchor track by AIS,she had a lot of chain out.

Isis II is now under way to Grenada for slipping and repairs, so the captain has a lot on his hands, but hope later he will have a spare moment to tell us what actually happened,as advice for all of us sailing the area.

Great to hear that the boat has been found in OK condition....

Just curiosity.... Would insurance pay for damages in an incident like this?

They haul big boats at Spice Island Marine Services, Prickly Bay, Grenada. See their website and contact them if interested. Remember Monday is a national holiday in Grenada. Best wishes.
