Re: South Pacific Island discovered......to not exist!
So, they sent a bunch of scientists to study an island that doesn't exist. (They'll probably blame it on global warming.)
All they needed to do was ask some cruisers who've been by there.

We are too tolerant of the intolerant. PC is out of control, and is a detriment to communication and more importantly rational thought.
In this thread we have made fun of Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, and France. The only time the PC police came out was for France. Now how do we make fun of those gun toting, tax dodging Jersians?

Your right of course the best croissant I have had stateside was not as good as the worst in France. Too bad the French consider them a hearty breakfast!.
|
Perhaps that's because their livers are still suffering from eating rich food late the previous night.
Personally I'd take a café-au-lait and a croissant from a next-door bakery in a heartbeat, over a glazed doughnut injection moulded in a distant factory, and a cup of what some Americans puzzlingly refer to as though it bore some resemblance to coffee.

Hmmm - neither do the French. I'm pretty sure it's "Nouvelle Orléans" but if masculine it would be "Nouvel Orléans"

I was running a private dive charter from a Russian Research Vessel and with state of the art (1999) electronics and exceptionaly qualified officers and crew. We had a radar return and there again was nothing charted, we anchored and had a great dive. The reports were sent, Admirality, USN, NOAA, etc... I have yet to see this charted. I still have the location on an old etrex gps.
This does happen and please be kind to those that have a honest interest.

I this case the google glitch is not real. The water was too deep for an upwelling such as you encounted in the Solomons. 44C sumed it up by being cautious in his passage and Aust survey has since found it baseless.
Steve Dashew in his books suggested in some parts of the Pacific close to shore one needs to be cautious lest upheavals create uncharted upwellings such as you dived.
