SF Bay Tides

Does anyone know a good web site for a tides in SF Bay? I have one of those paper tide books on the boat but I thought maybe there is an illustrated current chart on the web somewhere.

Re: SF Bay Tides

Local SF estuarial tidal booklets are offered by the local West Marine stores, local marinas, etcetera (from free or a dollar) include hourly illustrated tidal current charts, and somwhere around here I've got a 50-year-old gov't chart. Of course, they all have to be mentally adjusted for the theoretical tidal variations.

I'm not aware of an internet site graphically showing real-time currents. Winds, yes; currents, no.

Hey Charlie, Long sail down from Nevada ; -)

This should help on the leg thru the delta;

California Delta Chambers and Visitor's Bureau - A Guide to the California Delta Waterways

and this might be useful once in the bay proper;

Re: SF Bay Tides

Here are some current charts: Tides

And some more tide/current data and charts: San Francisco Bay PORTS® There was an on-line current simulator here, but it looks like this has been discontinued.

Here's a link to a description and beta download of the TideTech current simulations. I've not tried this, but it looks interesting: Modelling the tides in San Francisco for the America’s Cup | VSail.info

If you can, attend a presentation by Kame Richards (pronounced "cammey") of Pineapple Sails where he discusses the currents in the Bay. He sometimes does this at the Bay Model in Sausalito -- it's well worth signing up for this. I see he's doing this on May 10th: How the Tides Work for You by Kame Richards - Sausalito | Telli Marin

Re: SF Bay Tides

@ Mark thanks as I said I have one on the boat looking for one on the internet
@ Sarafina, Nevada City, California. Much easier then Nevada it's all downhill from here. @ Paul. Used to race against and with Kame. Didn't use his advice in the Catalina 30 nationals and beat the pants off of those who did. That first link is perfect just what I was looking for.

Here's a nice animation, based on actual measurements using surface radar: CeNCOOS - Surface Currents Google Map
