Set Raspberry PI clock from NMEA Device

Hello,

What's the best way to set Raspberry PI time from NMEA (connection from USB/NMEA adapter or over the network via data from a NMEA 2000 Wifi Gateway)?

Use Case: I return to my boat after several days or longer and power up the Raspberry Pi I use for navigation. I don't have internet connection so I want the clock to be set from one of my GPS devices. My AIS transponder, with GPS, is connected via USB/NMEA adapter. NMEA data including GPS time is also available over the boat's wifi via NMEA 2000 Wifi gateway.

I've set time on another Raspberry PI via an inexpensive USB GPS and GPSD software but I don't have a spare USB port.

I've searched this forum and broader internet with no luck.

tldr; I use ntpd to set the clock from NMEA data, and also from a laptop.
