Indeed, and a very bad place to troll in very bad taste.

You could use the BOM weather charts perhaps, They update every couple of hours, Satelite images,

I dont know how close they get to the surface, But some one may be able to zoom in on the area's concerned,

Bureu of Meteorology, Australia, They have all sorts of links, and other stuff on it,

Its worth a try,

Mr. B.. RCCNZ and the State Dept are still involved. RCC been doing the current drift models. They have been more than accommodating and hope more success on next search.

Re: Schooner Nina - MERGED 3 THREADS

Just to say, I am not a troll, but I did make a mistake with something I posted for which I have apologised ... I could not have known more info would be posted to disclaim how that image appeared. I have spent hours and hours of the past few days searching the tomnod images covering many hundred square kms, so the site tells me and simply praying something can be found to make sense of it all for the loved ones who are doing all they can right now. I am but a baby sailor in a 28 footer living by the sea north of Auckland .. no trolling. Cherie -I wish only comfort for you and your family.

Why can't the USA send a drone or a U2 to photo the area? Sending a single Cessna out is like finding a very small needle in a very large haystack
money simple as that (sadly) for sure if it was Obama,s family out there then heaven and hell would be moved,
the best bet I more positive ino comes up is to try and ask any comercial airline in the area to take a looksie

Re: Schooner Nina - MERGED 3 THREADS

Just fyi I am not a troll . I tried to link a video that a news station aired locally. It was about the search for Nina. I continue to hold hope that they will be found. To the above post on why cant the US send a drone. Why would they do that? The US Coast Guard wouldn't not allow their currents/wind modeling workstation to be used ,so they are paying for it in Australia. The target is a moving/drifting target; the image was from a satellite over the Tasman on August 3/4.

Re: Schooner Nina - MERGED 3 THREADS

Don't know why but I still have a good feeling about how this tradegy is going to turn out. While I'm not a religeous guy, my Dad told me about 70 years ago that there are no atheists at sea or in foxholes. He does work His miracles and has answered my pleas for help in some pretty bad situations at sea. Sure can't hurt to send up a few prayers for the Nina crew... I encourage any who care to do the same... Cheers, Cherie... Phil

yes and if it was a boat full of illegal immigrants, nobody would be looking, Your point being....

SAR is expensive and by definition limited, SAR is not there to search endlessly and unlimited costs , Im afraid. I dont beleive this is new to anyone.
