AIS transponders are cheap and easy to install. Certainly less than $1000 here in the USA. I train all of my crew as to how to use it for their watches.

Of course I would love to see the skipper show up with his crew intact. But Nina now is long overdue with no reported sighting by the SAR and all others in the area, I'm sure the NZ coast guard have put out a message or two asking all to keep a lookout for here. Her in the USA that would happen for a overdue boat for many days. The fact that no sightings have been reported is a bad sign.
You're right about one thing...you don't get this forum stuff. I mean really...there has been many many request for the negativity to stop and still you seem to go on and on with it. It's been explained...and nicely...that there are friends and family here who's feelings should be considered. You mock forum members with an "armchair" comment. Yet you sir, seem to be the one that goes on and on with comments and suggestions leaning towards what the skipper should have done.
You see the article written about Nina and the negativity there. Chances are, the writer picked it up here for all we know.
It might be a great time to give it a break.

You are confusing negativity with realism. I don't mock, but the truth might well hurt the " armchair sailors". But don't worry about me, I'm out of my chair for a seat in the cockpit for several days!

Realism is ok, but consideration is better sometimes.

Re: Schooner Nina - MERGED 3 THREADS

I have followed this story daily hoping for some good news. I am very disappointed with some of the comments. Whether the skipper should have carried better communication devices is irrelevant. He appears to not have. Debate as to whether he should have is a pointless exercise. He didnt. Some people on here just don't get it, preferring to criticise and judge. In my opinion, this thread should be totally devoted to constructive contributions which might help locate the boat and its crew. Anything off topic should be moderated out. Peter, Australia.

At the beginning of the thread which I started, was when do we get concerned. I hope the end of the thread is we found them.

As we said this started information gathering which has been incredible.

We are not asking you not to criticize just make a new thread. Then you can bash David, The Nina or whomever all you want.

This thread is finding the Nina, callouts for those in the areas they were last located and any other info that can help to find her.

Re: Schooner Nina - MERGED 3 THREADS

Hey--if we can lose track of a Russian cruise ship for 6 or more months, and then have it show up intact, there is still hope for Nina.
Just recently, 2 more sightings of yachts abandoned as much as 9 months ago, were reported NE of Bermuda.

Bazzer, you just seem to love to keep banging on about it being a very bad sign for Nina.
If you can not say something positive, please keep your negative comments to yourself.

Re: Schooner Nina - MERGED 3 THREADS

My first CF post. I have been following this thread since the beginning and have been praying for the Nina and her crew as well their friends and family who are awaiting word of their fate. I will continue my prayers and invite all of you to join with me.

Sweet Father in Heaven,
Please hear our prayers of protection! Send your Angels sweet father to watch over and protect these lost children of yours. Allow them to know peace in the choas they are in. Allow them to keep faith in the darkest moments of this peril. Send Angels to help guide those looking for them. Allow them all to return home if it is your will and plan.
Keep love and peace in the hearts of those who are left at home waiting for their loved ones return. In Jesus name AMEN!

Hopefully people who see these weather patterns will keep an extra lookout.

Supposedly the RCC was going to check other boats that left the same time and arrived in Australia. They never got back with that information. Wonder why.
