Sat2chart - creating chart(s) with different polygonal areas

Hi to everybody,
I have a problem: if I create a chart (satellite map+Navioncis layer), multi zoom levels, based on one polygonal area: perfect !
If, viceversa, I create different charts, at the same time, selecting at the same time different polygonal areas or I create one chart, merging different polygonal areas, the results is NOK, since for some zones, same zoom level, some Navionics tiles are missing and/or for the same zone, but at different zoom level, some tiles are missing
Any idea ?
Thanks a lot

Re: Sat2chart - creating chart(s) with different polygonal areas

It might be I've understood what it could be the cause:
- I select the 2 area to create 2 charts
- each chart map+layer, multi zoom
- I select the map (valid for both charts) and the zoom levels
- start the procedure in automatic mode
- Load first area
- download tab with correct map and zoom levels for the first area
- download tab with correct layer and zoom levels for the first area
- download tab with correct map and zoom levels for second area

BUT

it doesn't start the:
download tab with correct layer and zoom levels for second area

Export tabs OK for both areas (with map+layers and correct zoom levels) BUT since it did not start the download for layer of second area the resulting chart has problem with layer.

I do not know

Hi Massimo. First, you should probably post this in the Sat2Chart forum.

But my main problem is that I'm not really understanding your problem. It sounds like Sat2Chart isn't telling SAS to start that 4th download? Since I don't deal with layers, & don't understand how Sat2Chart works with or even knows about layers, I'm not much help here.

Posts on the Sat2Chart forum may be read by Paul Higgins, since he started the forum. He hasn't responded there in some time, so I wouldn't hold my breath. Still, it's a possibility, & he's the only one who really knows how Sat2Chart does what it does.

You talk about "merging different polygonal areas" but you don't explain how you're trying to do this. Are you using the "Merge mbTiles" utility in Sat2Chart? Or some other method?

Merge mbTiles has some limitations, like all the zoom levels have to be the same. I've played with this utility a bit, but prefer to work more directly with SAS, downloading what I need & then creating mbTiles directly from the SAS cache, rather than merging multiple mbTiles.

SAS & Sat2Chart can work with quite large areas. The entire Italian coastline might be a bit much, creating an mbTiles file that's too big to work with easily, but cutting the coastline into 3-4 pieces should be doable. Doing those 1 at a time, if that's what it takes, wouldn't be too bad.

With these sorts of questions, it's usually best to list out your exact steps & procedures. That way, others can try to recreate your issues, or spot problems with what you're doing.

Ok Jon,
You are right
I will continue the discussion as per your suggestions
Thanks so much
