Re: Sat2Chart
navionics has been fixed in the latest version of sasplanet.
i followed a previous suggestion of simply copying the zmp directories to my existing sasplanet and it worked.
here are the details - i am assuming that you have an otherwise functioning sasplanet and sat2chart installation.
download the latest version of sasplanet from the geojamal website.
unzip that download and locate the 4 navionics*.zmp folders inside maps/navionics
copy those 4 folders into your working sasplanet installation under maps/sas.plus.maps/_water
you should be good to go!

Hello Yalla,
are you using Sasplanet alone or with Sat2chart ?
Have you checked the functionality having navionics as layer, with multi zoom charts ?
Personally when I set navionics as map everything is perfect (all the zoom levels and tiles are downloaded and exported), while when I use Navionics as layer, during the download I notice "tile not found", even if on the screen is perfect (and when navionics is a map is perfect as well); I'm trying to overcome this issue, selecting, in the export tab "use tiles from lower zoom"

Re: Sat2Chart
I'm using sasplanet with sat2chart.
i have not used layers, but i just tried it and can confirm your observation that the chart produced does not have the navionics layer.
i used arcGIS satellite as the map.
in sasplanet alone the arcGIS with a navionics layer does work.
the sasplanet version is 240103.10469 downloaded a few months ago from Paul's website.
the navionics*.zmp directories i used to patch my sasplanet are from version 240828.10624

Yes, same as me. I'm using SAS and it works (sometime some issues but can be managed)
thanks

The cache files are the unsung heroes of mbTiles. In addition to sharing completed mbTile files, it would be helpful to consider a compilation of the various caches that we each have. That way we could each build the mbTiles for specific areas or zoom levels as desired.
My cache is 316GB. If someone were to build or update the French Med coastline, it would save them a lot of download time and bandwidth if they had access to the cache. Probably also a more sustainable way to resource utilization with Navionics and other sites that limit requests.

Slovak, Peter Petrik (of Amazing Grace fame) has a networked server he uses to make his mbTiles. While it might be nice to use that to create some sort of central repository for SAS imagery (my cache is pushing 500GB) I sort of like having my cache local. It means I can run OpenCPN & SAS side-by-side on a 17" laptop, each showing different imagery (typically one satellite, & the other one of the nautical charts).
But you're right, it would be nice to share this stuff, especially as it can take a LONG time to download the data. The CMap servers are especially touchy, & will simply ignore you if you hit them too hard. I have to jump through LOTS of hoops to download CMap imagery (one reason that Bruce's Chart Locker doesn't have CMap mbTiles).

Re: Sat2Chart
Hi,
I have Transas Maps, but it had no hotkey assigned.
I did manage to add one (T) in SASplanet and it is working in SASplanet.
When I want to use the Multimap function in Sat2chart it does not show though.
How can I make it to show? And make it usable in the process.
Thanks for helping with that.

Re: Sat2Chart
One more, when using Sat2chart I can not get these multiple download windows to open when Sat2chart opens the various SASplanet instances. I did set splits to 35.
If I do run SASplanet manually it does work if I set splits to 35.
Not sure why it does not work when SASplanet gets started by Sat2chart.
I'm running Sat2chart 17.0.0.2 and SASplanet 240103.10469 Nightly under Windows 10 22H2024

To make any map show in Sat2Chart, you have to tell Sat2Chart about it. Download the Sat2Chart_Selected_Maps.txt file from Paul's server & put it in your Sat2Chart folder (this will also make Google appear). Edit this file to add the hotkey & the chart name for any chart that you want to access. The name has to be EXACTLY what SAS calls it in the Maps pulldown menu, because Sat2Chart checks this & will error out if it doesn't get the reply it expects. Then restart Sat2Chart.
To get splits to work, you first have to enable them, because SAS defaults to some very low number like 2. For each map that you plan to use: - Go to that map in SAS
- Select Settings | Map Settings (or Ctrl+Alt+P)
- On the Internet tab, run the Max concurrent http requests up to 50 or so
Repeat for each map you might use.
After you select which routes you want Sat2Chart to use, you'll get a chance to select which maps & zoom levels you want to download. You can also select the number of splits by selecting the value in the Splits column & then using the +/- keys to change how many splits you want. It sounds like you've already done that?
Since Sat2Chart will spawn up to 8 SAS instances, you can easily saturate your computer if you have too many splits, as EACH SAS instance will use the number of splits you've selected.
You might right-click on your taskbar to bring up Task Manager, & leave it in a window in the lower-right corner of your screen while Sat2Chart & SAS run. Click the Performance icon on the left to bring up graphs showing how your CPU, Memory, HD, Network, etc are performing. This can tell you if you're hitting your computer (or network or HD) too hard (35 splits is a LOT). If you right-click on the CPU graph, you can select Change graph to | Logical processors to see if any of your cores are saturating.

Hi John, thank you!
Still getting an error. See attached.
Called it Transas Maps everywhere.
And it gets listed in the Sat2chart selection window.
Thoughts?

Re: Sat2Chart
Very strange, Franziska. Glad to see you're a sophisticated user.
I'm using the same SAS version as you, but I have MANY more maps. Did you purposely delete a lot of yours?
My Settings | Options | Maps shows 376 maps total.
Also, hitting an M in my SAS takes me to Maps | Google | "Maps (Google) ... M"
meaning that M is already defined. This is probably the root of your problem.
SAS has no API, so Sat2Chart is just sending SAS keystrokes. Unless you've disabled that Google definition of M, it's likely that SAS is receiving an M from Sat2Chart & going to Google instead of Transas. While SAS allows multiple definitions of a hotkey (arguably a bug, IMO) it doesn't warn you that it's already defined elsewhere, which means that use of that hotkey is then unpredictable.
Probably best to either find an unused hotkey (& I haven't found an organized list of hotkeys in SAS) & using that hotkey in Sat2Chart, or to remove the Google definition by: - going to that Maps | Google | Maps (Google) map, then
- Settings | Map Settings | Cache & Other
- & removing (deleting) the hotkey definition down near the bottom.
Hopefully that will sort you out!

Re: Sat2Chart
Hi John,
given some time constraints I download manually with SAS for now. I have only limited time in this location with a fairly fast & stable network connection left.
But, I will try again to get Sat2chart running, hopefully successfully with the help of your answers.
Thank you!
I downloaded from SAS with the Sat2chart from your website. So hence they should work well together.
More below in CAPITALS to make my comments stand out.

WITHIN REASON :-)

I SAS YOU CAN TICK OFF ANY CHARTS YOU ARE NOT USING, WHICH MAKES IT MUCH EASIER TO SEE THOSE YOU USE. THE ONLY ONES I LEFT ON ARE ACTUALLY THE MARINE & SATELLITE ONES.
Also, hitting an M in my SAS takes me to Maps | Google | "Maps (Google) ... M"
meaning that M is already defined. This is probably the root of your problem.
I DELETED THAT SHORTCUT I THE LIST FOR SAT2CHART. WILL NEED TO VERIFY IF I DID TGAT I SAS TOO.

GOOD PLAN. THAT'S WHAT I'LL TRY. BTW. THAT'S ALSO A GOOD PLACE TO MOVE MENU ITEMS INTO BETTER SUBGROUPS.
Hopefully that will sort you out!

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

Re: Sat2Chart Charts won't display in OpenCPN after W11 Update
While making a group of charts this morning I had a power interruption. When power was restored my computer did a Windows11 update 2024-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5046633).
I now can make charts OK with Sat2Chart/SaSPlanet (they display using the Mbtiles Viewer). BUT these charts will not display in OpenCPN 5.10.2.
Anyone?
