Re: Sat2Chart

I do not think OpenCPN is the only software that uses mbtiles.

As far as I know OpenCPN is the only navigation program that handles mbtiles charts.
Do you know of another navigation program that uses them?

QtVlm.

I think qtvlm has been using this thing for one million years now. Or at least as long as I can recall.

You can check this out quickly, as this is a multi platform soft. Runs on Win, Linux, Android.

Re: Sat2Chart

Prob noblem!

I have never used the tiles.

I only use a the polar / grib / routing part of it. But I could see a mbtiles word in the menu line, next to vectors and rasters. I understand this is to use the tiles as background or something.

No tiles on my my machines so cannot test it to see how good the implementation is.

Rather than make tiles out of satellite images, I use Google maps or other Apps offline.

What is the benefit of the tiles over offline use of Google sat images?

Huge practical benifit is ease of creating them with a few different zoom levels from SASplanet. Various sources, often bing is better the Google plus cmap and Navionics in there. Download inside a rectangle, polygon or along a path.
Really useful resource.

Re: Sat2Chart

OK. I see.

If it is useful, why can't be deployed in the cloud so that rather than everybody downloading the tool and learning it, one could simply go online, request the job down via a simple GUI, then collect the resulting tiles?

Just an idea. Maybe someone will pick here up and create something useful.

Of course; it's as simple as ordering a pizza, though it's delivered in lots of little pieces ... ...

You can save mbtiles straight from SASplanet. First select the area and download the tiles with your preferred zoom levels then click 'last selection' and export as mbtiles.

Navacino,

Posted many days ago.

I have been thinking about your problem. Please open the Sat2Chart/SasPlanet options tab and give me a screenshot

hi Paul,
I just recovered your message from my Spam . Now I'm sailing and is Night. Tomorrow I will send SailPlanet/Sat 2Chart option screenshot.
Tanks a lot for your patience.
During these days I tried to get files .mbtiles from SasPlanet/Open PCN . Perfect! Now, when it will be possible to test, I have to realize well the connection with Sat2chart.
Buon Vento

Re: Sat2Chart

Hi Phil,
Downloaded ver 10.0.0.0 yesterday and got this error;Click image for larger version

I had cleaned my computer using CCleaner including cache a few days ago, but dont know if this caused the error. The error refers to using cache in options, but can find no reference in any options to this.

Thank you for your help in advance.
