At the risk of receiving protests from sailors who ´wanna be left alone´ I suggest opening a permanent SAR thread as a source of information for boats in distress,making use of the eyes of the many boats crossing our oceans.

Please only use it for factual information,not for opportunities to start discussions and arguments.

SAR-1 s.y. Nina

Although the official SAR has ended for the vintage s.y. Nina which disappeared in a storm in the Tasman Sea with a crew of 7 on her way to Australia from New Zealand,I would appreciate ANY information from sailors in the vicinity.

The last message received by their Iridium satellite phone on 4 June was :
"THANKS, STORM SAILS SHREDDED LAST NIGHT, NOW BARE POLES. GOING 4KT 310 DEG WILL UPDATE COURSE INFO @ 6 PM".
