Hi Folks,
I have an old hand held
GPS cable connected to my
autopilot. I now do most of my
route planning on a fairly large
screen computer using
OpenCPN (which I dearly love using) then manually transfer the waypoint data into the old
GPS manually (Old
Magellan hand held which I also have a sentimental attachment to)
I have been thinking of
buying a chart plotter but just about anything with a usable
screen size costs megabucks and I have a suspicion would probably chew up a fair chunk of Amps.
I noticed some of the
Garmin small screen chart plotters have
wifi and are not too expensive and are probably not too Amp hungry.
Has anyone had experience of these or other small chart plotters which put out
NMEA 0183 data to an
autopilot and if so can you transfer routes and waypoints into them from a computer using via
wifi or bluetooth?
