Roanoke sound channel with 7 ft draft

Is it possible to take the Roanoke sound channel, with a 6'11" draft, to take Pamlico sound while heading south instead of the standard ICW path in NC? our boat does much better under sail than motor and it looks like we have a little more room once we get into Pamlico sound. from the charts, it looks dicey, but possible.
