River Routes of the World

How can one find river cruising routes of the world? (example: the great circle route, okeechobee waterway, rhine river route)

Just a basic overlay so one could see where a river passage might be available as an option while in that part of the world. Is there a google map/earth overlay out there? I'm not really after detailed charts but more of an overview that could be viewed at a glance & then by knowing its there can do further research. I hope this makes sense.

Thank you these are helpful. Do you happen to know where I might find more of an overview of rivers, however. Or even more river routes? For instances is there a river route around the Suez Canal?

if your boat is small enough,and you can put it on the back of a truck,it is possable to go as far as juba in the sudan on the nile river,starting in alexandria egypt.

you will have to porter by truck 6or7 rapids and the aswan dam.
visas and permits may be a problem,and a strong engine is a must.
