Raymarine ST4000 MKII vs EV100 MKII

Does anyone know if these use the same drive unit and thus the gearbox for the 4000 fits the EV100 ?

Might it be better to replace the planetary gears from shipways which are made of nylon plastic ?

In any case it is much cheaper.
