Raymarine S1 drive gearbox overhaul

There will be many Raymarine wheel pilot owners that have had to replace the drive gearboxes. Plastic gears will eventually fail and at between $120 and $300 bucks a gearbox, depending on where you live that’s expensive. Failure is usualy the same cluster of three gears and they will be stripped. If you can find an old gearbox it will probably still have 6 good gears. The gearboxes are easy to dismantle clean, lube and reassemble with good gears. Wont last as long as a new unit but well worth the effort.
