Planning/Routing from Ft Lauderdale to Jax

We are picking up our boat from Lauderdale Marine Center and sailing her up to Jacksonville, Fl in a couple of weeks. The “plan” is to sail by day and anchor/moor at night as crew (wife & son) is not ready for overnight passage yet. Weather permitting we will sail outside but duck into ICW if needed. Since this is our 1st trip up the coast I’d appreciate recommendations on where to stop each night. We’d prefer the hook but moorings are ok. Thanks for sharing

There are limited "good" passes along the Florida coast especially above Cape Canaveral.

West Palm, Fort Pierce and Cape Canaveral provide good access to the inter coastal. Above Canaveral I would go inside if I didn't want to do an overniter.

West Palm and Fort Pierce provide quick access to anchorages. It takes longer to get through to the inter coastal at Canaveral because of the lock but once into the inter coastal there are anchorages available.

The St Augustine inlet may provide an exit back outside for the final day hop to the St John river depending on weather and the current sea state.
