Pacific West Coast Ports of Refuge for Large Yacht

Hello folks, I might imminently be asked to take a 130' motor yacht down from Port Townsend WA to San Diago, CA.

I've read some horror stories about the west coast, and I have no personal experience of that area.

The vessel cruises at around 10 kts, and ought to have sufficient fuel for the whole trip.

Can anyone easily identify the inlets and ports that might be used in the case of inclement weather, but also for rest/layover?

Very grateful...

I'm at Charleston marina in coos bay, A 100 foot Ocean Alexander just pulled into the guest dock, there is plenty of room for a 130 foot to pull in in front of or behind.

The biggest issue will be crossing the bar in most locations - Crescent City CA can be entered in almost any weather

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

In the past I used a couple maps called "Pacific Coast Route Planning" that have 3 routes, offshore, nearshore and a "harbor hopper". All the routes provide you with waypoints and cross shipping lanes at right angles where required. Two required, North and south.

That’s terrific Takitimu, thank you. That is certainly one harbour I was looking at, but as yet had no definite info. So that’s a real possibility. Thanks again!

Thanks very much Calif.Ted. I’ll check those out in the morning. Sounds like that’s just what I need. Cheers!
