I just ran a few scenarios over a few time periods over the next 96 hours and it does look like a useful "rough cut" tool for visualizing routes. I compared it against my planning for this week and it confirmed some pretty straightforward
route scenarios I had formulated given a front I'm going to have to deal with.
Perhaps most interesting is the
email functionality. Send an
email with your departure and
destination coords and it will shoot you back a KMZ file. You can authorize any email addresses you want in settings, including
Iridium, Winlink, Sailmail etc.
Some may turn up their noses at routing programs but they can be very useful as a first swag at planning a
route. This one is free, and it's also exceptionally easy to use. It's going in my online weather and
passage planning toolbox.
