North Edisto Inlet Local Knowledge

Anyone have any local knowledge for this inlet? It's going to match up well for an ebb tide for me tomorrow. Skipper Bob's says it's straight forward but Active Captain doesnt give it the best review. Anyone have any experience going in and out?

Re: North Edisto Inlet Local Knowledge

We took our Leopard 46 into that inlet approx 2-3 yrs ago. The entrance was very straight forward. We had checked with Tow boat service to get latest info about buoy placement before entering. We were glad we did because they were very small and it was blowing 30 knts when we entered making it a little difficult to pick them out but they were where they were supposed to be. It was very calm and very pleasant once inside the inlet and we had a very enjoyable time exploring the river.

Just an update on this. We left from North Edisto yesterday. Very straight forward in settled weather. One note: green 7 is missing. So don't freak out just head for the reds and hook a right when you have them abeam.

I was knocked down going into the North Edisto with waves from the North East. Watch that shallow spot, once across it you are ok. Have the hatch boards in. Small creek <1 mile in (it has been a while) to the South is one of the best anchorages we have had.

Low wind, high wave warning...two big waves higher than the bimini second one took us. Talked to a guy in a Bertram 50 that also had troubles. Bo Hicket Marina is also a nice place with good food. Serious tide runs through Bo Hicket.

Calll Bohicket for latest info. Nice marina but yes tide runs fierce through there. I overnighted there 3 weeks ago. Once through inlet if you turn up into Bohicket follow markers carefully to marina. Some of the corner turns have narrow channels. Dont ask me how I know...
