NOAA Charts on B&G Zeus

Bought a boat with B&G systems, the charts look to be 5 years old Navonics.

I have been using OpenCPN with NOAA charts, any way to load them into B&G or to convert to a format that B&G will read?

Re: NOAA Charts on B&G Zeus

Navico chartplotters (B&G, Simrad and Lowrance) use the Atlas Type 5 (AT5) chart format. NOAA charts are in S57 format.

Use Frank Warmerdam's FWTools (in particular ogr2ogr) to convert S57 charts into ESRI Shapefiles and then import them into Navico's Insight Map Creator to create AT5 charts.

Alternatively look at the OpenSeaMap project or other third party software such as Reefmaster

Ultimately you may find it safer and easier to just spend the dollars and update your existing charts.

Stevead: Kudos on what is one of the most informative posts of the week. I am very familiar with Reefmaster, and have used to to generate detailed charts of anchorages and fishing areas. I need to check out your other recommendations.
