New England cruising guides

Planning a month long trip from NYC to Bar Harbor, ME and back this summer. Specifically looking for ideas for cruising guides and "be sure to see this" suggestions.

Re: New England cruising guides

For Maine you want the Taft / Rindlaub guide. It's got all the suggestions you need, and you can vary your itinerary based on your interests, weather, and tides.

Roger Duncan's "A Cruising Guide to the New England Coast" is a good one. I think it was last updated in 2002, but even the older editions are full of excellent information.

In addition to those mentioned, and not (just) to be a shameless plug, our Northern Edition has "Goin' Ashore" sections for dozens of spots along that route, plus navigation and marina information... all updated each year (current issue is the 2013). Hurry up and you can enter to win $100 of free guides here on CF: http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...des-99147.html. Good luck!

Re: New England cruising guides

We've found the Embassy guides useful from NYC to Castine, at least. For Maine specifically, the aforementioned Taft's has lots of interesting details and information. Join the Maine Islands Trust and get the Member's Guide for exploring hundreds of their and otherwise privately held islands.
