New Android Sailing App : SailFreeGPS

Hello,

Sailor for 30 years, last November, I was making my first transatlantic!! Fantastic and how many memories...

But during these 15 days, I would have needed an app to see if the action of a trim (sheeting, easing, bending the mast, digging the sail, raising the tangon, ...) is positive or not.
So back, I created an Android SailFreeGPS App for smartphones or tablets that in addition to displaying COG, SOG, Compas, Position, displays graphics with speed and course history; You can thus see if the new trims are positive or not (despite the waves, gusts or calms).

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ic.sailfreegps

Moreover, since the values from the GPS are too fluctuating on our smartphones (while we advance to 6 kt stable, speed fluctuates from 4 to 8 Kt), I added a "filtering function" (average of a number of points that you can adjust).
You can also adjust how many past you want to see (from 30s to 20min)
I also added a MOB function (I would not have expedted to go to water in the 4-5m swell during the transatlantic) and a night mode.

Bref, you can enjoy !!! and do not hesitate to provide me feedbacks or suggestions : mailto:sailfreegps@gmail.com

Sorry for my bad english

It's loaded on my tablet. I launch in three weeks and will let you know what I think. Thank you for your efforts.

Re: New Android Sailing App : SailFreeGPS

Thanks for the app - I'll give it a go on my Android 5.1.1 tablet when aboard.

But disappointed it won't run on my Android 4.2.2 tablet. Sadly I can't change the version of Android.

Re: New Android Sailing App : SailFreeGPS

Nice work.

Within 10 seconds of trying out the app it was nice to see how responsive it is.

Most apps are too busy sending reams of data to the mother ship, and hogging phone resources, where it invariably ends up as pointless adds or is sold and returned to me as spam.

Re: New Android Sailing App : SailFreeGPS

Well done, I like it!

Would it be possible to add an option for a rectangular heading graph similar to the speed graph? I feel it would be better for correlating speed with heading.

Still, it is a very nice app as is. Thank you!
