Anyway my opinion on the paper vs electronic debate.. you have your ECDIS reboot itself while navigating a 600 foot vessel through the belts towards the Baltic. I'll tell you this.. I have never been happier to look down and see that paper chart still sitting there in front of me.

I'm 24 years old, grew up on boats, and will ALWAYS prefer paper over electronics.

I will bet you do rigorous passage planning as well.

Lost mine going round Cape Wrath, wind blew the map case and chart out of my hands and over it went. No problem we had GPS, that failed when we took a wave over the top in the Pentland Firth. Navigation was then by eye ball keeping Scotland on the right and timing was with a wrist watch, a chinograph pencil on a dive slate and using the rev counter for the speed. Inverness was a welcome sight.
