Mooring at Fort-de-France

We are at anchor in the bay of the flamingos of Fort-de-France. The city is pleasant, but boaters suffer from a plague from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.: the wakes generated by the fast shuttles that come and go all day long.

And useless to hope to make them respect the speed limit at 5 knots: neither the parent company (= town hall), nor the Cross, nor the sea police have the slightest effect following the requests of boaters.

I do not recommend this anchorage, because it is unbearable.

Yep it is a problem. You just have to learn to live with it - or else anchor far away and have a long dinghy ride

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Re: Mooring at Fort-de-France

There are an awful lot of bad places to anchor in the world.

We find the best thing to do is... anchor somewhere else rather than trying to get the local transportation system to change its ways to meet your needs.

Re: Mooring at Fort-de-France

I used to anchor across the bay in Trois Ilets and catch the ferry into Fort de France when I wanted to go there. I don't know if they still have a ferry service.
