Re: Monitor for navigation

I bought this https://majesticelectronics.co.uk/le...rent-draw.html and I am very happy with it.
It's 19" draws 1.6 A at 12V, runs on 9-27 V and has got VESA mount.
With this version there are 3 HDMI inputs.

Re: Monitor for navigation

I wanted a multi-use display. Ended up with a 24" Samsung TV running at 19v DC using a DC/DC converter. Great TV, films, navigation all rolled into one.
Screen is fine on OpenCPN.

The From what I've experienced is the universal symbol for thanking a poster for posting a thread of potential mutual interest. And to also indicate that they too will be watching your post.

Never seen it used in a negative way. Notice the smile?

I have used it myself multiple times and seen it used extensively on many boards.
The response on this thread to its use has really suprised me.

So all I can say is

Sorry if I am

Re: Monitor for navigation

I totally get the return limitations. I value the Amazon reviews, and have found a slew of portable monitors there that would probably meet your needs. Almost all of them run off USB power supplies. I think there are touch screen ones as well. Have you searched there?

LOL! Sometimes I think this forum needs a thread anchor to keep it from drifting too much.
Great idea, now we can argue 4 or 5 pages over which anchor is suitable for the topic and prevailing gusts of hot air. Are we using an all chain rode for this?

Re: Monitor for navigation

Here's where I have to apologize, earlier I couldn't get the page to load. Here's a link to "Amazon Choice" touchscreen portable monitor that from the information I could glean, appears may be a candidate for you. It looks like they have a variety of choices. Again, I get that the return issue is a major consideration, and since I am in the US don't have that challenge (at this point) but I wanted to see if I could contribute in a meaningful way. We're about 6 months away from 1) boat acquisition and 2) moving onboard full-time.

The Dell S2417DG looks good to us. Specs say
• QHD resolution 2560 x 1440 at 165 Hz
• Pixel Pitch • 0.2058 mm
• Brightness • 350 cd/m˛
• Contrast Ratio • 1000:1
Would you expect TZ and Open CPN to run well on it? Some people warn that text may be too small.

The monitor will be installed below deck, so readability in sunlight is not an issue

We are open to suggestions on another monitor.
One running on 12 volts would be nice but I cannot find that size and resolution
Likewise touchscreen would be nice, but all that I can find at that resolution are physically too large for our space
We do not have the option of buying, trying and returning if we do not like it due to boat location and airfares

Thank you for your comments
I have used a Lilliput 12V monitor to mirror my MFD for the last 10 years without problems. I see that they now offer a variety of 12 - 24 Volt DC monitors.
