Little Bahama Bank

How is the depth at the channel onto the bank near Westend? I think it’s called Indian cay channel

We draw 5.5 ft
This would be closer than memory rock since we are coming from south
Thanks

Re: Little Bahama Bank

You can carry 5-6 ft, but only at high slack tide. Indian cay cut is very tricky (Dangerous) Existing marker poles are not good, so you need to go by GPS and your chart plotter. You need to go at slack tide or risk being pulled into shallow water.

Going around Sandy Cay, not as far as Memory Rock, is a safer route, but does add some mileage to your route.
In my sail boat (6.5 Ft draft) I go around Sandy Cay-In my power boat I go via Indian cut!

Re: Little Bahama Bank

Distance from the beginning of that channel to memory rock weigh point is 12 miles.
I contemplated it and chickened out, if you go aground at high tide, how you getting off?
Did the hurricane change the channel even a tiny bit, cause that is all it would take, then adding in having to time waiting for high tide, I just took the extra 12 miles, mostly because I was unsure if the hurricane had shifted any sand, it wouldn’t take much

Those are fathoms, so should be no problem at that waypoint mark in the north. Unfortunately, the lat/long is not visible in this picture.

Those are meters, about a half fathom per meter.
