We sailed for many years - a long time ago - in the Cleveland area. The wreck in 54 feet
depth, noted off
AVON PT at 41,34.156 N x 081,58.199 N had a metal
mast spire that was close to the surface.
Charts say 30 feet clear but the
skipper managed to take a chunk of lead off the
keel. I saw it once in calm
weather - spooky looking menace from the depths. It was stored as an alarmed instant way-point on the
Loran. We always passed it wide while
racing. There was talk of having it made safe. Does anyone know of this is still there or if the threat has been removed?
