Isla to Cuba and beyond

I am planning to be in Isla Mujeres in May a part of the Pensacola to Isla Race. We are in the early stages of planning a cruise onwards from there and thinking of heading to Cuba and perhaps onwards from there. I was in Cuba in November at Marina Hemingway, but was wondering if there are marinas on the southwest end of Cuba where you can check in without going up to Hemingway. Does anyone have recommendations?

Also, any suggestions on locations to hit on the south coast of Cuba? We would also like to go onwards from Cuba, but appreciate that time may be an issue in terms of returning to the US before getting too deep into hurricane season. Options could be Grand Cayman, or skirting around Cuba to the Bahamas - but that's a lot of distance to cover. Since I am in the early planning stages, any suggestions or recommendations are appreciated.

I would head down to Belize, wonderful easy cruising. You can almost day trip from Isla to Belize. From there you can visit the Rio Dulce area or overnight to Roatan Honduras. From Roatan it's down hill back to Cuba.
