iPad celestial nav apps

Has anyone used any of the celestial navigation iPad apps? I've got $50 to spend (gift certificate) and am wondering if any of these apps are worth it?

Quick search turns up:
  • Celestial by Navimatics
  • AstroNav
  • ezSights
Experiences?

Re: iPad celestial nav apps

Hi,

Why not built an application that will:

1) take a picture,
2) calculate the altitude,
3) produce the intercept.

Have fun building.

Cheers,
barnakiel

I've got the ephemeris, which saves me lugging almanacs around. It's called iNA.

Thanks Steve. Did you consider StarPilot?

Star Pilot is pretty expensive, and being a math geek, I enjoy doing the calculations by hand. ( well, at least using a scientific calculator). Spherical Trig is a bit of an interest for me.

Ah, I see ... You're a strange man Steve .

I studied astrophysics at university (and on my own), but never enjoyed the math. Of course, I've been doing the calculations manually, but there's no joy here.

Many thanks for your help with this.
