Inverted Sextant Scope

My wife had bought me a Russian Cho-M sextant a while back. I am now ready to try to start learning how to use it. The problem is that it seems to have come with the up-side-down scope and I don't think that would quite make it any easier to learn to use (nearly impossible?).
I understand that there are replacement scopes that may work on this sextant. Does anybody have any information on where I might look to find the correct scope or any suggestions on what to look for in a scope for this model?
With that said, does anybody have any experience with this model of sextant or know anything about its accuracy and quality?
Thanks

The inverting scope is a higher magnification (6 or 7x) which is meant for use with the minor (faint) stars. Not at all good for general use and certainly not for learning. Celestaire carry non-magnifying sight tubes which would be suitable for learning as well as with moon, sun and brighter bodies http://celestaire.com/catalog/products/0510.html
What you really need is a 3.5 or 4x40 scope - apparently you can get one here: http://landandseacollection.com/id289.html

Have fun with it.

Hi Clausont,

Did you manage to solve the problem with your Russian sextant? I happen to have the exact same problem ...

On my old Tamiya, never used either of the scopes that came with it. Worked fine just sighting through the ring that was supposed to hold the scoop for doing sun shots.

Bart, that post is about 7 years old, so a response from the OP is a bit unlikely!

Good luck in your quest... celestial is fun (but I love my gps).
