Can you transfer OpenCPN routes to iNavX or Navionics Mobile App?

From Navionics you can share the route (using share button by the route name in left top corner) and email .kmz file to yourself. I do use the .kmz file with my Garmin software and chartplotter.

I do not know for sure, but I do not think you can import a route to Navionics app.

distances and statistics are automatically updated on the same screen

NAVIMATICS Mobile App
• basic charts
x activecaptain guide

BLUECHART Mobile App (by Garmin)
x very good charts but not as functional as BlueChart g2 Vision
x available weather and wind, radar info (in-app purchase)
• rudimentary route planing
• activecaptain guide, gets in a way a bit, no way to hide it

x = functions that I use the app for, with Navionics being my full time app

I use my iPad with iNavX as my primary navigating tool although I have a chart plotter at the nav station below. Usual cruising grounds SoCal and Channel Islands. I am now planning on an extended cruise in the Sea of Cortez. Looking for recommendations of best charts of Western Mexico for my iPad.

I used the navonics 3xG Caribbean & South America from xtraverse. Good coverage in Sea of Cortez and down the mainland.

Just got back from an Easter sail and used the Caribbean & South America from xtraverse charts on iNavx and it was good. (about $50 for app and $50 for charts) I also have Navionics app with the charts that come with it. (about $50 for both charts and app) One issue I had that maybe someone can help with.

The iNavx has "Course Up Orientation" mode. Great when you have to make a fast decision when in a reef system and don't want to think if you are looking at the chart correctly or backwards.

Navionics doesn't have this capibility, or I wasn't able to find it. Does anyone know if it does have the "Course Up Orientation" mode?

Just got in from sailing. There was a Garmin chart plotter aboard, and I noticed that it shows a light that was removed more than four years ago.

Somebody was too cheap/busy/ignorant to update the charts on that unit.
It does not have to be Garmin's fault ...

I'm in Puget Sound. I imagine anyone who uses Agate Passage knows about it. They may have forgotten it by now, but I'm sure they know about it.

I'm going back and forth between Navionics and Garmin Bluechart Mobile (BCM), with iNavX in third. In practice, Navionics with nav module is superior to Garmin BCM, though Garmin BCM is trivially easy to use. What I don't like about iNavX is depending on what I do, the menu buttons on the bottom disappear and I have to reselect the chart. I find this annoying.

To me, the selection boils down to the quality of the charts and how well the program responds when using. I liked both Garmin and Navionics vector charts; I didn't like Navimatics charts and lack of detail. I like iNavX's ability to display many different chart/formats and iNavx's ability to import waypoints (via email gpx file), NMEA wireless interface, etc.

Depending on what you are using the iPad for, a single app may not meet your needs. I go back and forth between the above three. Each have their pros/cons.

One question, though - many of these apps cover chart regions. Is the level of detail comparable to other chart formats, e.g., Garmin BlueCharts used on PC and chartplotter, Navionics Gold, etc.? To me, the local iPad quality and level of detail is excellent with both Navionics and Garmin. Just curious!
