INavX

I took my IPad on a recent charter with the intent to use INAvX as a backup chart plotter. However it would not calculate my position unless Cellular Data was turned on. Shouldn't the IPad Air's GPS allow navigation without using cellular data? I don't want to pay roaming data fees while chartering away from home.

Re: INavX

I am glad to hear that, I guess I'm doing something else wrong. I'll have to give it another try. Thanks.

Re: INavX

Your ipad air needs to be the cellular model in order to have the built in GPS antenna.

Re: INavX

It is. Maybe I didn't give it enough time to get a fix before I gave up.

Re: INavX

Come to think of it, we had the same issue a few times last summer. The issue would go away if I shut down the ipad and did a restart.

Make sure your iOS settings for that program have location services enabled.

Re: INavX

If all else fails try the Ctr/Alt/Del trick of the iPad. = Hold power button and main round button until the apple logo appears

Re: INavX

So I am not an i kinda guy. And all I hear is "it just works"... until it doesn't, and then it's "most of the time".

As if "most of the time" is the same as "it just works"

I love the CtlAltDel trick. Never thought I'd hear an i kinda guy admit that they ever had to do that.

Just wanted to yank a little chain there.

BTW I'm a developer and we all know statistics say there is a horrifying number of bugs in any complex software.

In fact we have a saying -

The last bug is fixed when the software is retired.

Re: INavX

One way to figure out is to try out multiple apps on your iPad.

- If it reproduces on all apps, its an iPad/Apple issue.
- If it works on some apps, then its an iNavx issue.

I have included below some app(free) links for you to try.
